The winner was foreordained once Bristol Palin was revealed to be the third place finisher. The teen activist was a distant third on the judges' scoreboard following the third and fourth dances of the week on Tuesday night, but she had been bringing up the rear before and always managed to survive, thanks to enthusiastic support from political quarters that don't often pay attention to the show. But the margin between Bristol and both Jennifer and second place Kyle Massey was too great to overcome -- or maybe it was a case of her finally coming up against fanbases bigger than her own. After all, Jennifer was the preseason favorite for one big reason: the pull that still has on so many after all these years. She didn't go to that well too often, but saved it for the key moments of the season, the beginning and the end.
